This BLOG is for the older more mature person and for those who are interested in the process and issues of ageing. For both, it aims to be an interesting and useful resource. To the former, the BLOG says “we are here”, “we are very much alive” and “we count”.
Written by ‘The Old Grey Fox’, it sets out information among other things on work, life style and health, politics, science and sex and takes a positive view.
One of the BLOG’s objectives is to over come prejudice against older and more mature people by presenting the evidence. If you are an older and more mature person who is not willing to be sidelined by society this BLOG is for you. If you are inquisitive about ageing and all that goes with it, this BLOG is also for you.
The Old Grey Fox is here.
Who am I? I am a man in my early sixties, fit and active. I have shrugged off several assaults on my health, including cancer, and still take a full part in life and enjoy doing so. A professional person, I still work and will continue to do so for some time yet. I take an interest in politics, have definite views and will always vote. I am seriously unhappy at the way our society views and treats older and more mature people and I am not willing to go quietly into the night. Among other things, I want to encourage you not to accept our society’s projected belief that growing older is some how a chronic disorder or disability. It is not.
“The only thing for old age is a brave face, a good tailor and comfortable shoes” (Sir Alan Ayckbourn, 1975, Reg in Table Manners, act 2). We can do better than that.

COMMENTS
After some discussion with readers of this blog, I have decided to open up certain pages to comments. However, I have chosen not to do this for the more factual pages ~ those concerned with research and scientific journals. My hope that this will encourage you to engage more directly with the blog and with the issues raised and share more actively in its development.
QUESTIONS
Those who want to question or discuss the information presented here on ageing research and scientific journals should write to me directly at theoldgreyfox@europe.com and I will reply. Alternatively you may wish to join our Facebook group ~ Old Grey Fox ~ and participate through that medium. However you join in, I would like to hear your views on two possible developments. First, should we have a blog poll on the factors that drive successful ageing and what should those factors be, and, second, should the blog have a literary page? Several of our readers have obvious literary and poetical talent and we could perhaps capture that here.
